Erik Gilbert

Erik Gilbert is a professor of history at Arkansas State University who specializes in 19th and 20th century East Africa and the western Indian Ocean. He is the author of Dhows and the Colonial Economy of Zanzibar (2004), Africa in World History (2004) now in its third edition and available in Chinese and Turkish translations, and Trading Tastes: Cross-Cultural Trade in World History (2006). He and his co-author Jonathan Reynolds are in final stages of completing a world history textbook for Pearson. He also writes about Higher Education, learning outcomes assessment in particular. He is a regular contributor to the Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed.
