Barbara Keener

Barbara J. Keener is an associate with the Institute of Higher Education, College of Education, University of Florida. Prior to this position, she served in faculty and administrative positions with universities, private liberal arts colleges, community/state colleges, higher education alliances, and organizations. She also conducts research and guides projects addressing higher education leadership, including assessment, across institutional departments and programs. She has a variety of studies and reports featured in higher education journals and related publications. She has experience as an outside evaluator for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In her previous experience as core faculty for Capella University, she was a recipient of ten consecutive Teaching and Learning Excellence Awards.

Dr. Keener is a frequent presenter at academic conferences and seminars, including the Council for Student Retention Data Exchange’s National Conference on Student Retention. She holds a doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Florida, where she served as a W.K. Kellogg Fellow for Community College Leadership. Previous professional experience includes workshops at the Noel-Levitz National Conference on Student Recruitment, Marketing, and Retention and the National Council for Student Development.
