Discussion of Findings from a Content Analysis of Comment Thread Responses to Gilbert’s Chronicle of Higher Education review of Eubanks’ Critique of Current Assessment Methodology

On January 12, 2018, Erik Gilbert published a Chronicle of Higher Education review of a critique of the state of higher education assessment by David Eubanks that appeared in the Fall, 2017 issue of Intersection.  Gilbert’s article prompted a thread of 46 comments posted to the Chronicle’s online edition.  We conducted a content analysis to identify themes evident in these comments.    During the session, we will facilitate a discussion of the bases of the themes and actions that can be taken to address them.
