The challenge of managing and supporting program-level learning outcomes assessment is magnified at large universities with multiple campuses. Despite our large size, we work to provide personalized support, resources, and timely feedback for each of our nearly 575 undergraduate and graduate programs, and over 230 certificates. A year and half out from a 2016 overhaul of our assessment process, we have a fresh perspective of what it means to have an impact on the practices of individual programs in an environment that favors assembly-line processes and top-down approaches. Our strategy has been to provide flexibility, face-to-face contact, and individualized attention to each program. Ours is a liaison model, whereby each assessment specialist is assigned to a group of colleges and campuses. We review and provide feedback on assessment reports and follow-up with a visit our assigned colleges and campuses for multiple 1:1 consultations and/or a group presentation. Challenges, such as how to meaningfully assess small-enrollment programs, remain. We will share our process and materials, including our management strategies, assessment plan and report templates, guidelines for completing reports, and other resources. We will also share the successes and challenges we have experienced and encourage the participants to share theirs.
