Bringing graduate programs into campus assessment was what this campus saved till last. Once the undergraduate academic and co-curricular programs were all part of the campus' reporting cycle and had engaged in the emerging culture of assessment and closing loops and using the results of student work to inform curriculum and instruction, the graduate programs were invited on-board. Using the work done in other universities, most notably the University of Rhode Island, the graduate programs began to engage in collaborative processes that brought their pretty non-linear journey toward the establishment of common goal categories, a common reporting cycle, awesome outcomes and an annual peer review that the Directors of Graduate Studies actually look forward to happening, for the most part. The data gathered during the first formal review has informed the graduate office to provide specific professional development in non-parametric statistics across all programs and outstanding discussion about research throughout the university.
