Collaborations between a Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the Assessment Office are likely to be fruitful because these units articulate missions and goals that are closely intertwined. Attendees will identify faculty development goals that can be promoted through a collaboration between the Assessment Office and a CTL. In particular, attendees will articulate learning outcomes aligned with assessment, teaching, or curriculum design and develop learning activities for a workshop that addresses faculty development needs based on backward design (Fink, 2013). The facilitator will provide an overview of backward design. Attendees will participate in a series of small-group activities in which they will identify workshop learning outcomes and design learning activities to promote these outcomes. Attendees will identify potential collaborators on their campus and develop a plan to initiate and implement a collaboration. Intended audience: directors and staff of assessment offices and CTLs.
